Abu Ubaidah Kemin dreamed of a school for Muslim children based on the most excellent educational methods. Akhyar was incorporated as a non-profit on February 24, 1999 and opened in the town center of Johor Bahru and was chosen for its central location and the potential of extending influence within the surrounding neighborhood. The vision of the founders has resulted in a child-centered school with an integrated curriculum where each child is encouraged to reach his/her potential as Muslim.

Philosophy

The Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) guide our policies. Islam is an integral part of our daily lives and therefore pervades the atmosphere of the school.

Our Islamic environment helps the children develop a healthy sense of themselves and an authentic Muslim identity. Islamic values are practiced and learned through experience and example.

We promote respect for self and others, as well as a sense of responsibility for our environment.

Our curriculum and philosophy are child-centered. Our teachers use and direct the God-given desire of children to learn. We strive to meet the needs of the whole child by providing a rich, warm and inviting environment that will provide a wide range of opportunities for individual growth and development. Our primary function is to provide the environment and encouragement that allow children to become God-conscious, confident, competent, self-directed learners and thinkers, capable of working together as a community. Frequent field trips, hands-on materials, computers and other technology assist us in achieving this end.

We promote an atmosphere of inclusion and appreciation of diversity within and outside of the school. MTA is very visible in our local neighborhood. We selectively participate in society at large. The children are helped to express Islamic attitudes and behavior proudly and openly and to relate to others with tolerance.

Sekolah Rendah Islam Al-Akhyar (Primary School) is registered with MOE and our registration number is SRJ 3623.

Sekolah Menengah Islam Al-Akhyar  (Secondary School) is registered with MOE and our registration number is SRJ 3622.

Maahad Tahfiz Al-Akhyar is registered with SSM as an Association and our registration number is 2215-09-JHR.

Maahad Tahfiz Al-Akhyar is registered with Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Johor and our registration number is JAJ. PEND.301.01/177/8 - 12.

Maahad Tahfiz Al-Akhyar is registered with the Association of Maahad Tahfiz Islamic School of Malaysia.
